Redding CT is located some 60 miles outside of Manhattan. When the town was originally established, it’s name was spelt “Reading” similar to the English town. The original name also derived from a prominent Boston lawyer, John Read, who helped form the town. in 1767, after the town’s incorporation, the name was changed to Redding, although confusion lasted up until the mid 1880s when the Post Office formalized the name to “Redding.”
The town’s library is named after famed writer and former resident Mark Twain who helped form the library’s first collection. Today, the town is listed as the 2nd best small town in Connecticut and 4th “Best Town to Live In” in the country. The town is home to a small population of 9000 residents.
